Harroll, Derrick, and Ajah.

Well we got back from New Orleans yesterday. And I long to go back soooo badly! While we were there many people we met on prayer walks told of us of how they NEVER go down the street to 7th and Danneel. This is because the last time they went down there they were shot at, beat up, robbed and so on. While we were there we saw nothing of this. As Mike said "We owned the street" by the end of the week, while not us, but Jesus. Over the week we handed out more than 750 copies of the Bible, and over 15 people came to know the Lord. I think that's a pretty good week, wouldn't you say so?

But let's move on to some of the beautiful kids I spent time with:

This is Harroll:

He is 3 years old. His mother was shot and stabbed to death on Friday, the day we drove back to Texas.  I had the chance to talk to his mother a few times during the week, she was a very nice woman. They lived not to far from where we worked all week. Please pray for him, his family, and the neighborhood in general.

This is Derrick [aka D]:

D is my best friend from New Orleans, he is 9 years old now. While I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with him this year it was still so amazing to see him again! Alex, a middle schooler from my church, was teaching him drum beats. Whenever D learned a new one he was sure to find me to show me. Whenever he did, or was about to do, something he was proud of he would find me. It made my heart soar to hear him yelling my name over the music, and to see him running to me to let me know something. I LOVED getting to sit back and watch Alex love on D. It really meant so much to me to see someone else love on him for Jesus. My first year there, 2009, D prayed to accept Christ. This year I got the chance to talk to him more about that. While he didn't remember praying with me, he told me about a time when he prayed last month for Jesus to come into his heart. We talked about what that means exactly, and how it affects his life. BEST CONVERSATION EVER. Not only did I get to share Jesus with him years ago, I got to further explain what a life following Jesus means. Oh if I could put into words my joy.

I spent a good deal of my time this year with this precious child, Ajah.

Ajah is four years old.  She is so sweet. She didn't talk to many people other than me, unless I told her to ask them for something or to say hi to them after they said hi to her. She and I laughed and laughed, I have her raspberries on her face and she would squeal and then give me one. I can't think of a sweeter sound than a child squealing and laughing. She took my camera and loved taking pictures. I have several of her beautiful face that she took herself. On Wednesday we talked for a bit about Jesus and His love and sacrifice for us, but being four she wanted to go play rather than talk. Pray that seeds were planted in her life. Pray for her and her brother Tyrell.

If you have a lot of time to kill ask me about my amazing spring break. I would love to tell you all about it!

New Orleans bound!

When you hear the word New Orleans what do you think of?
According to my good friend Google you most likely think of this:

Mardi Gras

The Saints

Hurricane Katrina.

But when I hear New Orleans I think of this:

On Saturday I leave with my church group to go to New Orleans for Spring Break. We stay away from the tourist spots and spend most of our time at the intersection of 7th and Danneel. This will be my third year going. Pray for us while we are there please! It's always a new experience, and we always have some type of car, and or tire trouble getting there and coming back.

The boy in the picture between Mike and I is Derrick, aka D. He is ten now, and I met him my first year there. I could talk for HOURS about this boy, and trust me, I have. The first time I went we were pretty much never separated. That picture was taken moments after he accepted Christ! It was the first time I got a front row seat to watch God move in someone's life. Breath taking.  I got to see him last year again, and I pray that I get to see him again. I LOVE HIM. More than I could ever truly put into words. So pray for D, that's he is safe and going to school. Last year when I saw him again he informed me he gets into a lot of fights at school and is often suspended. Even as I type I can picture his house, perfectly located so I can see him get off the bus from Wings of Faith, the church that let's us hang out and take it over for Backyard Bible Club. I just can't wait to be back there again!

How you can please pray for us there: safety, in travel and while we are there. Strength, and energy. And that we will pour ourselves out so much each day when we get on the bus to go back to the church we are staying out we collapse because all our energy and love has been given to those beautiful children.

In other news, I have $1,750 left to raise for Africa! Something about that number being less than $2,000 makes me feel sooooo much better! Continue to pray for that!

If you read all this you're awesome! Sorry for my long-windedness, but you surely know that by know I talk a lot. :]

Technology, 80 days, home invaders.

Well guys I feel high tech now! You can now donate for my mission trip right here on my blog! All you gotta do is look to the left and hit the button that says donate! Isn't that exciting? I think so. Thank goodness for my dad, I would never have figured out how to do that.

In other news, I leave for Africa in 80 days! How crazy is that? I mean that's less than 100 guys. Does it give you butterflies like it gives me? 80 DAYS. WOAH. Why yes, I do have a countdown in my room. All that stand in my way is 80 days and $2,000. I'm not worried, my God provides.

My house has been taken over this past week. But it's okay because these are the invaders.

Just look how fierce Blaine looks.

I have super cute nephews. If you couldn't tell.

How sweet are they?

I very okay with these two little ones invading my house. Blaine woke me up this morning at about 8 by jumping on my bed and telling me about my lizards and how they eat "cripets." [crickets.] They are just so precious. It always makes me smile to hear Blaine say "AUNNNNNT BRIEEEEEEEE!" or Colby squealing "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" The 'r' sound is never really said until they hit about 2, and is still often left out. Our house has been filled with giggles, babble and lots of "gun fights" the past few days. And I love it.

I could do without the dirty diapers though.
